I participated in Maintenance Day at my son’s school over the weekend. An obligation I had signed up for, not knowing what to expect but not being overly thrilled with the idea of deep cleaning a preschool classroom. To my pleasure I arrived to chewy Quaker granola bars and all smiles from the teachers and other parents. My tasks were not at all what I had imagined. Changing light bulbs, cleaning fish tanks, hanging a paper maché hammerhead shark, repainting a chalkboard sign, and the last job being the cake on top. Drawing with chalk on the playground tricycle garage.

My family and I purchased a home in Yucaipa about 2 years ago. Not only have we been blessed with a creative, family orientated (or, oriented) community atmosphere. We also scored hard with some of the friendliest neighbors anyone could ask for. This post goes out to our neighbors; and all neighbors, everywhere.
The other day my neighbor asked me if we liked sweet potatoes. Yes! I replied. Take as many as you’d like he said, they’re just on the other side of the fence.

Lately, my eldest son has been very interested in photography. He has continuously asked to use my phone to take pictures. Most of them are blurry, but he always gets a good one. The thing I like the best is when he shows them to me, he explains what he likes about them. “This is my pants dad, but look at the rug. Doesn’t it look cool Dad!” I am always amazed and proud at how observant he is, and how he seems to have an understanding of his photos. Here is his pants picture, followed by photos that he told me to take:
